King David wanted the ark of God at the heart of the kingdom. The first attempt ended in judgment; the second in joy.
Uzzah and the New Cart
They set the ark on a new cart. When the oxen shook it, Uzzah put forth his hand to the ark, "and God smote him there for his error" (2 Samuel 6:3–7). David was afraid and left the ark in the house of Obed-edom the Gittite for three months, and the LORD blessed his house (6:9–11).
